Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis!
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process whereby adults are fully initiated into the Catholic Church. Since 1988, the RCIA is the only approved process for adults to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist.
The RCIA is intended for three different groups of people:
Adults who are unbaptized and uncatechized.
Adults who have been baptized in another faith and who now wish to become Catholic.
Adults who were baptized Catholic but are uncatechized and wish to celebrate the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation.
Those involved in the RCIA process at St. Mary’s meet on Thursday evenings. The rites are celebrated during the Sunday Masses in Lent and the Sacraments are conferred during the Easter Vigil.
