St. Mary's Food Pantry provides supplemental food to people who are in need of assistance and reside within the St. Mary's parish boundaries. The parish boundaries are the entire Village of Wappinger Falls and adjacent parts of the Town of Wappingers and Poughkeepsie.
Our pantry is open on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon and is located in the former convent which is the building in front of St. Mary's school. The entrance is on the playground side of the building. Recipients are required to show ID with their current address.
The pantry will be closed if the Wappingers Central Schools have either a snow day or on a two hour delay.
Individuals who wish to donate food to the pantry can do so by leaving non-perishable items by the Rectory breezeway. Please do not leave bags of food in the vestibule of the church. All non-perishable items are gratefully accepted (Please check expiration dates). If you will be purchasing food for your donation please check the current parish bulletin for the most needed items. Monetary donations can be sent to or dropped off at the Rectory office. Also, if you shop at Adams Fairacre Farms, please bring us your brown bags! The Rectory is located behind the church.
Funds can also be donated for the purchase of needed items by putting cash or checks made out to St. Mary's with the notation of "for the poor" or "food pantry" into the poor box in the church. The Food Pantry was formed in 1980 in response to the realization that there was a local need for this service which was driven by the number of people that were coming to the Rectory and asking for assistance. It's mission is to provide supplemental food to people residing in our parish when they experience circumstances that leave them without adequate nourishment.
