Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis!
Sapphire Nursing Home is in the former school house in the village of Wappingers Falls. There are about 75 residents there. There are very few who are ambulatory and they all require various levels of care. As many of them are of the Catholic faith, their spiritual needs are attended to through our parish of St. Marys!
One of the priests offers Mass on the third Tuesday of each month. Parishoners visit at other times pray the Holy Rosary with residents.
Please let us know if you are interested in joining us.
If you know you are going to go to the hospital for surgery, please, contact the rectory to speak with a priest or speak with a priest after Mass before you go to enquire about celebrating the sacraments of confession and anointing of the sick.
As soon as you check in to the hospital, ask for a visit by the "Catholic priest chaplain," Fr. Rick DeLaPena, who is assigned to the hospital to ensure that you will be receiving proper pastoral care.
Also, if you or a loved one is rushed to the hospital in an emergency, ask for the "Catholic priest chaplain," Fr. Rick DeLaPena, since he can get to you most quickly. If there is a problem where the priest chaplain cannot get to you, call the rectory 845-297-6261.
If you will be having an extended stay at the hospital, let us know so your parish priest can visit you and put you on our prayer list.
