OUR MISSION
The Mission of St. Mary's Religious Education, sometimes called CCD, is to educate parish children who do not attend Catholic school in the fundamentals of the Catholic Faith and prepare them for eternal life with God in Heaven. This mission acknowledges that parents are the first and best teachers of their children and is therefore, an aid, not a substitute for parental lessons in the Catholic Faith. Children will be instructed in the revealed truths of the Faith as contained in Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture, as well as Catholic devotions.
Parents, meanwhile, teach the Faith by setting a good moral example, by taking part in Catholic devotions, and by living according to the six precepts of the Church:
1. To avoid unnecessary labor and attend Mass on Sundays and on Holy Days of Obligation.
2. To confess sins at least once a year, if conscious of a mortal sin.
3. To worthily and devoutly receive Holy Communion at least once during the Easter season.
4. To observe the days of fasting and abstinence established by the Church.
5. To help to provide for the needs of both the parish church and Church Universal.
6. To observe the marriage laws of the Church.
